## About This Role
We're looking for a **Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Preceptor (Transition To Practice)** to mentor and train new nurses and nursing students at Riverview Regional Medical Center. As an RN Preceptor, you'll play a crucial role in preparing and developing new nursing staff while enhancing the skills of existing team members.
## What You'll Be Doing
Your day-to-day work includes providing guidance and consultation on effective patient care and scope of practice. You'll create both formal and informal learning opportunities for your peers on practice issues, technology, and current research, stepping in to identify and address staff weaknesses as they arise. You'll also remain responsible for the care given to your assigned patients.
Communication is essential in this position—you'll stay in close touch with physicians, nurse directors, and coworkers about changes in patient clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring updates, diagnostic study results, and any abnormal findings or symptoms. When conditions change or patients respond to treatment, you'll respond quickly and accurately while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. Working collaboratively with patients, their families, significant others, and hospital staff to achieve goals and positive outcomes is fundamental to success here.
## Schedule & Location
This is a full-time position based at **Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL**. Your hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday with no weekend commitments unless there's a special event. You may work evenings as needed to educate the night shift.
## What We're Looking For
There are a few essential requirements you must have to move forward:
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire (and you'll need to maintain it)
- Completion of preceptor class
Beyond these basics, we'd love to see
- Previous acute care hospital experience
- Ventilator management experience
- Medical
- Surgical Nurse
- Board Certified (RN
- BC) or similar certification
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire (and maintain it)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
