Compass Healthcare Consulting & Placement is conducting a search for an experienced RN for a Director of Intake position for a Certified Home Care Agency located in Queens, NY. Qualified candidates will have prior Certified Home Healthcare Agency experience specifically including experience within Clinical Intake, Business Development, RN Liaison, Intake RN and Admissions. Successful candidates will also have prior leadership level experience and ability to oversee a team of clinical and non-clinical Intake staff. Team Player, fast paced, Tech Savvy, familiar with AI and upgrading / integrating new tech programs for improvements and optimization. Oversees Intake Dept. 3-5 yrs of relevant CHHA, Business Development and leadership experience, preferred.

The RN Director of Intake is responsible for leadership, business development and referrals, Intake and Admissions of clinical services for the Agency to the communities served by the agency mission. Supervision, education and training for a team of Intake/Enrollment staff.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with President/CEO and Director of Business Development to analyze current market performance, develop business relationships and clinical service sales targets to meet Agency (CHHA/LHCSA) projected revenue for the fiscal year.
  • Manage operations of the Admissions/Intake Department
  • Processing of patient referrals.
  • Obtaining insurance information, verifying insurance coverage, coordinating insurance benefits, and obtaining service authorizations for patients who are covered by a managed care plan.
  • Case management coordination for managed care patients.
  • Responding to and investigating managed care payment denials.
  • Facilitating continuity of care for re-hospitalized agency patients.
  • Maintaining Admission/Intake/Enrollment Department reference files.
  • Maintaining and analyzing reports and statistics related to the Department
  • Interpreting Agency policies and procedures for the referral sources.
  • Managing resources within an allocated budget.
  • Direct and coordinate all operation of the Admissions/Intake/Enrollment Department in a manner that ensures safe, high quality, cost-effective delivery of care to the patients.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and, when necessary, terminate assigned staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Assure that new hires fulfill requirements of Competency-Based Orientation/Training Program.
  • Recommend, hire, promote and transfer personnel within the department.
  • Develop and monitor employee performance standards.
  • Develop, schedule, coordinate, and/or arrange for active in-service and orientation programs within the department.
  • Maintain professional contacts with physicians, health care facilities, community agencies and third party payors to inform them about the agency and affiliates homecare services and programs.
  • Represent the agency and affiliates in the community through participation in professional organizations/meetings and other community outreach efforts as they relate to the health care system.
  • Active member of the IT Team.
  • Serves as a liaison to Finance, Information System, and Clinical Departments
  • Attend meetings to problem-solve issues related to work flow affecting the Admission, Clinical and Billing departments.
  • Work as liaison with the Director of Patient Services to ensure services for patients are initiated on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the clinical customization process, when indicated.
  • Support President/ CEO and COO/CFO:
  • Assist in the development of the Agency’s business plan and community outreach efforts.
  • Participate in budget preparation and the allocation of funds based on a study of costs, budget estimates and knowledge of reimbursement and operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • License and current registration to practice in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse, required
  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of progressive experience as both a staff nurse and a Supervisor or Manager in a CHHA.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement regulations as well as a thorough knowledge of third party reimbursement and entitlements for home care.
  • Thorough knowledge of current computer software and the ability to conduct staff training programs.
  • Able to work in close contact with COO/CFO and Department Heads, Management staff, and community.
  • The ability to work effectively in high-activity situations and under pressure.
  • Innovative and motivated to continuously improve internal systems and processes.
